Radon Testing Is Important
According to the Surgeon General, Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer death behind smoking. It is estimated that more than twenty thousand people die from Radon related lung cancer per year.
Testing for Radon gas is recommended for all real estate transactions by the EPA. Testing for Radon is easy, mitigation is easy and highly effective, and the cost for mitigation is quite affordable. There is no reason to let it spoil a real estate transaction.
Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is present in air, soil, and water. When present in higher levels in homes or commercial structures, it effects air quality and can lead to occupant health related issues. Read more about Radon at the EPA website here: https://www.epa.gov/radon
We perform the testing with state of the art, industry leading continuous Radon monitors, making it possible to have results within two days. Fort eight hours is the minimum recommended length for a Radon test to provide a quick snapshot of the Radon concentration in the structure. Let us help you with testing so you can identify if Radon levels are elevated and should be mitigated by a professional.
Radon testing is easy. For real estate transactions, Radon tests last a minimum of 48 hours, and closed house conditions are maintained for the 12 hours preceding, and for the 48 hours during the test. Closed house conditions mean that normal coming and going through doors is fine, running HVAC systems like furnaces and air conditioners is fine. However, doors and windows must not be left open for extended periods, and whole house ventilation fans must not be ran.
Radon test reports are delivered in electronic PDF format and include hourly readings of Radon concentration, temperature, humidity, and show motion events which would indicate potential tampering.
